The Avondale Country Club, in Palm Desert, California, centers on its golf course, which makes its way around 305 luxury homes among a stunning valley landscape.
The semi-custom and privately owned full custom homes feature many amenities in this guard-gated community. The Home Owners Association fees are low and cover security, clubhouse membership, TV and internets, and the dog park. Residents have access to upscale restaurants and the exercise center; and golf memberships are available. Many of the homes feature granite counters, wood flooring, wet bars, superb cabinetry, and surround sound. The yards are spacious with room for cooking centers and sparkling pools and spas.
The club’s golf course was designed by Jimmy Hines and was created from over 40 years of visions and planning. The course is Par 72 and 6,782 yards offering fair challenges to golfers no matter what their skill set. The California seasons allow for fantastic conditions all year long on the fairway.
Avondale’s clubhouse contains the Main Dining Room, The Lookout, and the Garden Dining Room. Between the three, members find a large selection of culinary satisfaction. The fitness center has the latest equipment and its men’s and ladies locker rooms have been renovated. The golf shop has everything an enthusiast needs and professionals are on hand for sage advice as well as instruction.
The club’s facilities are available for wedding ceremonies and receptions with room for 200 guests. Other activities are held here like holiday parties, quinceañeras, and family reunions. Many corporations hold business meetings here and use the golf course for team building. And in-home catering is available for residents and Avondale members.
The vision for Avondale began in 1969 when the president of the Bermuda Dunes Country Club had to wait more than an hour to get a tee time. Since George Glickley had to wait, the president decided to get a haircut at a local shop where he learned about some available land. The property, made up of 600 acres, was then purchased within two weeks time. Glickely brought in his four investment partners and they hired Hines to design the course.
